Cherish Simmons

With more than 10 years
of unclaimed property audit experience, Cherish focuses on leading our team of knowledgeable
unclaimed property auditors in expanding our audit capacity; streamlining the audit
process, focusing on efficiencies and results; enhancing our audit procedures and
practices; improving our authorization process and status reporting; determining
audit candidates that warrant further review of potential unclaimed property reporting
practices; and identifying new sources of unclaimed property.
Before coming to Xerox,
Cherish was a Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC’s Abandoned and Unclaimed
Property, State and Local Tax Group. Cherish managed all aspects of unclaimed property
examinations performed by the states’ third party auditors. Her recent areas of
focus include: calculations and escheatability of insurance death benefits, reporting
of business to business filings, and the management of highly complex multi-state
unclaimed property examinations relating to large corporations. Cherish is a recognized
authority in the unclaimed property industry, having spoken at numerous events related
to technical abandoned and unclaimed property topics including recent legislation,
audit strategies and compliance methodologies.
Cherish is a graduate of
Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration
in Accounting. She also holds certifications as a New York State Certified Public
Accountant and Certified Accounts Payable Professional. Cherish is also a member
of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
